His career began at Ogilvy & Mather Canada, where he was soon the senior writer on major accounts such as Duracell, Mattel, British Tourism and American Express. In 2004, Brian left to form his own agency, Smith Roberts Creative Communications. In 2014, Brian founded Camp-5 with Kai.
Brian has won over 150 advertising awards and was included in Strategy Magazine’s ranking of the Top 5 Canadian copywriters. Several of his campaigns – most notably, his ground-breaking work for the United Church of Canada and Colleges Ontario – have attracted widespread media and social media attention, while garnering millions of dollars in free exposure from all of Canada’s national newspapers and broadcasters, MacLean’s Magazine, CNN, the BBC, The New York Times and more. These celebrated campaigns have since become case studies in Canadian marketing textbooks.
